The first Arab-German family business summit was organised under the auspices of the Egyptian Minister for Trade and Industry H.E. Rachid M. Rachid and the German Minister for Economics H.E. Michael Glos at the Four Seasons Hotel at Nile Plaza in Cairo from October 17th to19th, 2008.
Focusing on the theme of "Global Family Enterprises", we discussed current issues of Leadership, Succession, Corporate Governance and Globalisation with the founders, owners and next generations of the most influential family enterprises from Egypt, Germany and the Middle East in a highly personal atmosphere. Most importantly, the summit encouraged and enabled all its participants to develop personal relationships with like-minded people. Engaging in such activity facilitated and strengthened intercultural exchange and business contacts between current and future family business generations. Speakers and workshop moderators have been based at leading institutes and universities for family entrepreneurship, such as Princeton, Wharton, IMD, INSEAD, St. Gallen and many more.
